Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary on June 3, 2013. They have been together for 4 decades and have featured in some of the most memorable films together. They were married on June 3, 1973. The very first film they starred opposite each other was Zanjeer. They got married soon after Zanjeer was released. It was through this film that Amitabh was able to get to the top league in the Bollywood industry. Both of them wanted to celebrate the success of this film in the month of May by going abroad. However, Amitabh’s parents kept insisting that before the trip they should get married. So in June 1973, they got married. Abhimaan, a classic film which featured both, was released in July. The film was about how the egos of a couple who belonged to the same profession clashed.

In an interview last year Jaya spoke very fondly about how she had seen Amitabh for the very first time in Pune at the Film and Television Institute of India. However, it was on the sets of Guddi that she got introduced to him. Actually the Amitabh was to play the role which was to be done by Samit Bhanja. But the film Anand also got released and director, Hrishikesh Mukherjee was not in favor of having a known face for playing the character of a person who did not feel impressed with cinema. So he decided not to take Amitabh in the film.

Both, Jaya and Amitabh starred opposite each other in Sholay, a 1975 iconic film.The very same year, Hrishida’s favorite film, Chupke Chupke was released. Then in a two year break from films, Jaya had Shweta and Abhishek, two beautiful kids. Shweta was taken care of as a baby more by Amitabh. By the time Abhishek was born, Amitabh was too busy with work.

In 1981, a film about an extramarital affair, called Silsila was released. There was a rumor that Amitabh had an affair with Rekha who also starred in Silsila. However both Amitabh and Jaya sailed through this. After 2 years, the couple was struck with tough times. In a shoot for Coolie, Amitabh met with an accident, and was seriously ill in hospital, but millions of fans prayed for him and he got well, as he believes even till today. All through the tough times, his wife Jaya was by his side.

His company ABCL – Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd failed, but in the year 2000 he rose like a phoenix in Kaun Banega Crorepati, a TV show. He got his place etched in a million hearts of the Indian people once again, as a guide, philosopher and friend. He has this image of a loving grandpa which is a far cry from the otherwise ‘angry young man’. Both Jaya and Amitabh also made a special appearance in 1994 in Akka, a Marathi film. It was for the producer of the film, Deepak Sawant who was also the makeup man for Amitabh that he had done this goodwill gesture. In 2000 the two thespians starred in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham a film produced by Karan Johar. In 2013 they featured in Ganga Devi, a Bhojpuri film made by Deepak Sawant. All through the 40 years of their married life, the both Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have had the same makeup artist! Recently, this Bollywood’s royal couple went to New York to attend The Great Gatsby premiere.

Sanjay Dutt had just a last few moments of being with his family and being free at his Bandra residence before he set out to serve his three and a half year jail term. He had to surrender to the TADA court. He bid adieu to his friends and family members and hundreds of fans and the huge media contingent that had gathered around him. The common man and media caused frenzy around him and wanted to catch one last glimpse of the Bollywood actor before he was driven away to the TADA court – as per the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act on 16th May 2013. In 1995 he was granted bail after he spent 18 months in jail. Then in July 2007 he was again given a five year rigorous imprisonment sentence.

He was convicted for possessing arms illegally in relation to the blasts in Mumbai in 1993 and on 21st March 2013 as per the judgment of the Supreme Court’s judgment he was sentenced to 31/2 years in jail. Around 1.30 am he left his home at Imperial Heights in Pali Hill, Bandra Mumbai to reach the court, where the media was waiting for him. The 53 year old actor was accompanied by Maanyata his wife, Priya Dutt, his sister and Mahesh Bhatt, the reputed film maker. Through the huge crowd, both Priya Dutt and Maanyata Dutt, braved their way. Mahesh Bhatt folded his hands to request the media and crowd to make way for Sanjays’ exit. Formalities related to his surrender began once he reached the court. Sanjay Dutt was bid farewell by his close friends including Rahul Aggarwal, Soham Shah, Kiran Kumar, Apoorva Lakhia and Bunty Walia, and others during the earlier part of the day. Abhishekh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan too have visited Sanjay earlier during the week.  Before he left his home for the court, he spent some precious moments with his weeping wife and his kids Iqra and Shahraan.

Mugdha Godse Spotted At The Eden Gardens With Shahrukh Khan!

Everyone wants to know what Mugdha Godse was doing at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. During the cricket match of Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata, she was spotted with the team and Shah Rukh Khan recently. The onlookers were left wondering and found her presence there to be quite odd. Actually, Mugdha was travelling to Kolkata. On her flight, she met Juhi Chawla’s husband Jai Mehta, who is also the co-owner of the KKR team. It was Jai who invited Mugdha Godse to watch the match at Kolkata. She was to be in Kolkata for just a day actually but since she was invited to watch the match, she ended up staying there for two days.

Ranbir Kapoor the 30 year old Bollywood actor says that his heart beats only for the beautiful actress and dancing diva, Madhuri Dixit. In his upcoming film ‘Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani’ he has done a special song with the Bollywood actress. Very often, Ranbir has been linked with a number of his co-stars who he says are just friends. He says that people just keep talking about him and link him with his co-stars as he works with them.

According to him, his heart beats for just one woman and that is Madhuri Dixit. He calls her his ‘Dream Girl’ and that once she appears on the screen it is as it light seems to spread in all directions he adds. Right from his childhood, he had a dream of dancing with her and this dream was fulfilled through the upcoming film ‘Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani’. This he states during the promotion of this film. He does an item song called ‘Ghagra’ with Madhuri in the film and feels extremely lucky to be working with her. On May 31st, the film is expected to hit the theatres.

In fact he has made a revelation that it was he who had made a suggestion to Ayan Mukerjee, the director to add a kissing scene with Madhuri Dixit at the end of the song. He says that in life whether or not he would get a similar chance or not, he does not know. Four retakes had to be taken for this song and he assures that these were not taken intentionally. Ranbir played the role of a mute and deaf boy in the film ‘Barfi’ and attained maximum fame for it. He states that he would not like to play a similar role like the role he played in the film made by Anurag Basu, again as now he is interested in new characters. Period, suspense, thriller and action films are what he is looking towards now, Ranbir says. He states that his father Rishi Kapoor is a fine actor and he is a big fan of his father. However, he wouldn’t want to repeat any of the character’s played by his father as he wouldn’t be able to do complete justice to those characters like his father.

Deepika Padukone Finds Compliments Very Embarrassing

Deepika Padukone, the beautiful Bollywood actress who has been in the Bollywood industry since 2006 recently she has topped the Times 50 Most Desirable Woman of 2012 list and has been receiving loads of compliments for this. As far as fielding compliments are concerned, she feels very embarrassed, she states. According to her physical attributes and beauty are all artificial and superficial. She states that she does not know how to react upon getting compliments and does not know how to take them, actually. This 27 year old actress says that compliments must be only a good thing, that’s it. Instead of appreciating her looks, she wants people to appreciate her personality and acting skills. She has worked in a number of popular films like ‘Housefull’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’. They should find her desirable for who she is which they can get to know through her interactions and interviews. She states that the audience should find her desirable for who she actually is, and should not bother with her physical attributes and beauty. She is going to feature next in films like ‘Chennai Express’ by Rohit Shetty and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ by Ayan Mukerji.

Anil Kapoor says that the audience is sure to love Sonam Kapoor’s latest film ‘Raanjhanaa’ He states that not only is the film really good, but the music too is excellent and everybody seems to like it tremendously. Dhanush and Sonam have great chemistry between them in the film in which the passion and innocence depicted in the film is quite visible in the film promos.  The audience will surely like the earthy love story of ‘Raanjhanaa’ Anil says. ‘Bombay Talkies was the first tribute film in which Sonam and her father Anil Kapoor were first seen working together. Anil Kapoor had starred in the very popular film, Mr. India. Sonam admits that she would love to act in the remake of the film Mr. India, if given a chance.

 Ace Lensman, Jagdish Mali Passes Away

Jagdish Mali, the ace lensman of the 1990’s who was fondly addressed by his friends as Jaggi, passed away earlier during the week. In Bombay city, he was one of the most sought after photographers. He was outwardly somewhat reticent and shy but a soft spoken and smiling person always. However, he always was assertive and passionate once he was behind the camera. Just like the other photographers from the glamour world, he did not have that flamboyance though. Many of the top actors and actress in the Bollywood industry always preferred to have Jagdish Mali as their photographer.

No matter who is going to launch her or where she is going to be launched, one thing for sure is that Isabella has already caused a sensation.

A decision has already been made that this fashionista will debut in Dr.Cabby, a Canadian film and not a Bollywood film. The film is about a medical student from India who goes to Canada but the local medical school does not grant her admission. For a living, the medical student has to drive taxis. Isabella has bagged the role of second lead and is to work opposite Kunal Nayyar, the famous actor from ‘The Big Bang Theory’ a popular TV series in America. The big shock is that Salman Khan who had a relationship with Katrina Kaif since just a few months ago is producing the film. It has been Isabelle’s desire to take up a small role first before making a full-fledged entry in the Bollywood industry.
