Be Bold with 2013’s Loudest Fashion Trends

Step out of the shadows and into the bright, bold light of this year’s loudest fashion trends. In 2013, the runways of Paris, Milan, London and New York lit up for the spring, summer, autumn and winter designer collections for year round decadence and fun. Use the following looks to highlight an outfit or dress from head to toe to make a colourful entrance.

Outerwear

The autumn designer collections saw coats and jackets come in an array of styles, shapes and colours, making this trend one of the most versatile this year. Altuzarra followed in the white footsteps of designers such as Derek Lam and Tommy Hilfiger with oversized white fur coats with black panelling, whilst Jason Wu followed on from his spring collection with colour blocks and durable materials like his black panelled, camel trench coat. Marchesa was perhaps the most flamboyant with oriental motifs in billowing, shimmering satin.

Eyes

The eyes and brows were very much a main beauty focus in the spring and summer collections. Marc Jacobs transformed his models into the style icon Edie Sedgwick with unmistakable bold brows and heavily lined eyes with a blonde pixie cut. Blue and red/pink tones were also a big trend with designer such as Donna Karan and Vera Wang, brightening the eyes of their models with vibrant neon pink shadows and more delicate red tones respectively. Jazz up a smoky eye with blue or red tints to mix up a staple evening look. Brows were also bold and filled at Prada. Many of the designers following this trend left the rest of the face neutral in order for the eyes to have full impact on the catwalk. Visit Zanda to see how the celebs are styling their makeup this year.

Metropolis Collection from Knomo

I really see that they have gone to town with their device holders and have moved somewhat into the actual handbag or clutch market.
What do you think ladies ? It certainly looks refined enough to our eyes, but do you prefer your clutch to be a top brand ?

3D Movie Action!

This week I decided more action is on the cards, so what better way to follow up A Good Day to Die Hard and The Last Stand than to dive into another action shred-fest with the help of Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis in GI Joe: Retaliation which is described as 'Action - Adventure - Sci-Fi'.

I thought I'd go in with an 'open mind', but looking at the plot line, cast, and movie poster, a closed mind might be just as valid.  Seriously though, it does look like a lot of fun and I shall be adorning my 3D specs to get the full brain washing experience.  The review will be posted soon.

Apart from that scheduled piece of cultural enlightenment, I shall be meeting with Style Review boss, Calvin Crane, in London to discuss some exciting new plans for the website and also continuing my ashamed self-promotion of In At The Geek End

On that subject, there are some interesting rumblings in the world of book publishing regarding the self-publishing revolution.  Previously deemed insignificant, publishers are now shifting uncomfortably in their seats, as not only is the quality of self-published material improving, many titles are more popular than traditionally published works.  I will be writing more on this subject and letting you know how my experience with In At The Geek End pans out.
