Swimsuits: Then and Now

Have you ever taken time to think about the history of swimsuits? Well, most likely, no. You would be surprised to know that they have a huge history that has witnessed radical changes over the years. For instance, in classical antiquity, bathing and swimming was done nude. This is completely unthinkable today. This change points to how much swimsuits and their use has changed.

Some cultures allowed people to swim naked. Over the years, undergarments such as loin cloths became the acceptable dressing for swimming purposes. Men swum nude and those who did not like it that way, stripped to their underwear. It took until the 19th century for a law to be passed that prohibited nude swimming. Cities were free to establish their own laws on the matter. Men's swimming suits became common in the 1870s. The men's swimsuit was a fitting wool garment that had long sleeves similar to long underwear.

Females mostly bathed in spas; often nude. They started abandoning nudity in the 1670s, many years before men. As a matter of fact, laws banning women from nude swimming existed over a century before the one for men was established. Starting at around 1700, ladies wore bathing gowns. They were long dresses made of opaque fabric so that they would not become transparent when wet. Weights were also attached at the hem so that the dress would not rise up in the water.

The 19th century saw the emergence of women's two-piece suits. The two-piece clothing consisted of a gown from the shoulders to the knees as well as a set of trousers that had leggings up to the ankles. The men's swimsuit remained unchanged for a century or so.
The 20th century saw modern changes for the swimsuit such as the rise to popularity of the one-piece swimming suit. Annette Kellerman, an Australian swimmer, played a critical path in this. After being arrested in the US for indecent dressing in her swimsuit, she came up with her line of one-piece bathing suits which she marketed. This came to be known as "the Annette Kellerman".

This form-fitting type of swimsuit proved popular despite initial opposition from some quarters. With time, it started shrinking. Arms were exposed as well as legs up to mid-thigh. The neck was also exposed and nothing was covered up to the bosom. With the advancement of technology and new fabrics, an astounding variety of more comfortable swimwear emerged.

wedding planning

Cover Photo Nao Isobe
Everyone of us at least once came across a term wedding hijacking. This not so popular term is in a need of a brief explanation in order to be comprehensive to those who were lucky not to be involved in it or not to have witness one. In words, wedding hijacking means that a wedding will be subjected to different unpleasant situation usually created by the people you know, but sometimes by the people you have never seen before in your life, that are not intentionally planned, at least not consciously, and that will surely happen if one doesn’t choose wisely the organization team, the wedding venue, the designer, the food. That being said, it is important to take a closer look at those situations, in other words, to get an answer to a question: who are those people and what kind of situations can distract the attention from the wedding? I went to this beautiful wedding venue in Sydney only to find a bride crying. This is why?

Bridesmaid fashion obstacle

How to indulge every bridesmaid’s dress choice? Some people are lucky and don’t have any problems with it. Others are not. The answer to this obstacle is simple: just try to choose something that will be suitable than to force anybody to wear something not comfortable with. Think about it this way: you will have a special treatment at her wedding also.

Children's comprehension of the wedding day

It is not unusual that some choose not to invite kids to their wedding because they are kids at the end of the day and can cause a hijaking. Children go to a wedding assuming they play and perhaps get to eat cake- it feels like a party! And that is the truth because playing is their way of learning about life. One should always have that in mind regarding children. Imagine a situation where your future family refuses to come to your wedding because you decided not to invite children? There is always a solution that can indulge everybody. If you decide to have a garden wedding the children would be thrilled. On the other hand, since it is not recommended to insult VIPs or the business partners, the babysitter can become an honorary member of a “rescue team“. This extra expense is definitely worthy.

Long distance relatives you have never seen

If you have a huge family it’s a blessing, but it is also a problem considering guests list. In today's world one cannot achieve to maintain family links with everybody, but that’s not the problem, the problem involves the parents who tend to add every single person from your huge family to the guest list. This almost instantly lead to the question of the budget. On the other hand, if the budget is not the issue, the problem can be of a more personal dimension. Maybe one just doesn’t want “strangers” on their wedding. A very rational and serious talk with parents long before the wedding is more than a good option to resolve this unpleasantness. After all, parents are just trying to help and that should always be understood.

Things People Learn at Photography Classes

Things People Learn at Photography Classes

When people have deep passion and interest for photography, they can always learn everything by themselves or join in photography classes. Most people think that joining in such classes isn't very important because they can learn everything on the go. Moreover, with the existence of digital cameras and additional stuffs, everything becomes easier and people won't have to tweak and changes their lay out or settings.

However, learning the very basic things about photography is actually very important if people want to learn the right method of taking shots or develop images. Digital cameras do make everything easier and simpler, but nothing really beats the conventional methods in photography subjects. Professional photographers need to know how to handle manual cameras as well as the high end ones, including how to develop images on their own and manually. That information can only be found during photography classes, which will be taught by the experts.

A basic class in photographer usually includes about 20 hours of studying being spent in studio, darkroom, and also lab. The class usually combines theoretical subjects followed by practical activities, whether done in outdoor or indoor setting. Most of the classes will include practical activities as the participants need to develop their own sense of art and style. They won't be able to develop it without practicing a lot.

There are several types of classes that usually included in the program:

- The basic, which usually covers basic information and knowledge about how to handle cameras, the types of cameras being used, the types of film, mechanism and exposure, camera lenses, and also other basic knowledge of the field.

Celebrity Paparazzi Problems

Paparazzi, photogs, shutterbugs, no matter what you call them, lately they seem to be pestering celebrities more than ever. So what’s the matter with them you may ask? Are these celebrity photographers or nuisances to people who want to just live their life?

After the death of princess Diana was blamed on paparazzi, the whole world was in uproar. Angry at their behaviour, of hounding celebrity's every move. As the years have passed, it seems as if everything has blown over and the paparazzi are now more than ever out to get "that shot".

But who should be blamed, the paparazzi, the tabloids, or consumers? The reality of the matter is that when you become a celebrity, you are celebrated. Fans obsess about whatever it is that made you famous, whether that be reality TV, music, movies, or "being famous, for being famous". Regardless of how you got the fame, once you have it and you're hot right now, prepare to be the object of your fans affections. But where does it go too far?

Most celebrities agree to taking pictures and many oblige the paparazzi. Many celebrities love the lime light, but when it comes to getting too close that’s when things go array. Most recently actress Halle Berry was caught on tape cursing at a photographer for stalking her daughter at school. Another recent incident involves Justin Beiber allegedly hitting a photog. And yet again, Alec Baldwin was last seen covered in a white sheet looking like a ghost trying to hide from those pesky paparazzi. Celebrities like drew Barrymore will tent a whole area to hide the happenings of her wedding....while Kim Kardashian will have it all on TV for show. So there are two kinds of celebrities. The ones that want the constant attention and those that don’t.

But it all comes back to the consumer. Yes the tabloid pay big bucks for exclusive pictures of celebrities, especially embarrassing ones. But who will buy these tabloids? Consumers, of course, me you...and if not us, certainly others will. So that picture of Alec Baldwin’s fiancé with her skirt up revealing she was wearing no underwear. And that picture of Snooki taking a fall, wearing too high of a heel while pregnant, yes tabloid pay for them, but then consumers buy the tabloids.

Beyonce’s father’s day gift for Jay Z

Rumour has it Beyonce bought husband Jay-Z a new private plane. Well as with everything else with this highly secretive couple it’s all hush hush.

The story goes that the new mother spent almost $40 million on a Bombardier Challenger 850. The media claim is that the Bombardier Challenger 850 has a flash interior including a cream leather living room, a kitchen, a bedroom and two bathrooms. Sounds more like an apartment to me.

Well what a happy father’s day it must have been for daddy to hip hops newest princess blue ivy. With such a lavish private jet, it’s like a home on wings.

It seems like the world no longer has to worry about the joneses, keeping up with the carters is the new standard of measure. Beyonce and Jay Z are synonymous with the best of the best. So this new jet will fit in nicely with their things.

Keeping up with the carters is their new friend Kim Kardashian. The splurge she made on Kanye West for his birthday is quite in line with this purchase Beyonce made for her hubby. I agree Kanye's new ride is no 40 million dollar jet but it will do.

Beyonce has been seen hanging out with Beyonce when both their beaus performed recently. It’s said that the carters think Kim is a good match for Kanye, and Beyonce and Kim seem to be forming a bond. Well what better way to continue to build your empire than to let in the "right people". Beyonce and Jay Z are arguably the king and queen of hip hop, and with new baby blue ivy, their legacy continues.

Let’s wait to see if the happy carter family, take Kimye (Kanye West and Kim Kardashian) for a ride in the new house....I mean jet!
