Self Publishing Your Own Book

If you have a book that you want to publish, you will soon find out that the available options are overwhelming. However, the first thing you need to put into consideration is whether you will self-publish the book or not. Self-publishing is the process of publishing your book or other media without the participation of an established publishing house or company. This means that you are in control of the whole process including marketing, PR, distribution, price, formats and design (interior/cover). You can do it all yourself or subcontract all of the process to a company that offers these services.

The key distinguishing aspect of self-publishing is that the author/writer decided to publish their book independent of a publishing company. In the past, authors who self-published their work need to order hundreds of books and then store them somewhere in their garage, but the start of Print-on-Demand Publishing (POD) allows the author to order one copy at a time. This makes self-publishing affordable and hassle-free. In 2008, for the first time in the history of publishing, self published books outnumbered those that are published traditionally. In 2009, 76 percent of all books produced were self-published, while publishing companies or houses lessened the number of books they published.

In today's publishing situation, all authors, whether published independently or traditionally, should undertake the promotion and marketing of their book. This includes having a website, blogging, social networking, etc. It may also include book awards programs, book signings, blog tours or virtual book tours. There are many companies nowadays offering a variety of advertising services for every budget with different programs for various genres, etc.

How to Create Effective Business Cards

Business cards are considered an extension of a person or a business entity. They introduce, inform, and remind other people of the skills and services you can offer. They also effectively communicate who you are and what you can do, even without meeting or speaking with each other personally.

Creating a business card is simple; the challenging part is how to make it establish the hard work for you. It should initially grab attention and create a positive impression, or else, you will miss out on some great opportunities.

Today, with the help of technology and Internet, you can also create business cards online. You can either make a design online, upload your own, or ask them to design the card for you - all at competitive prices. The best part is, you can receive your cards in 1-3 working days.

There are things you need to consider in creating and designing your own business card. It may look complicated at first, but the effort is worth it, knowing that there will be a big payoff in the end.

• Decide early on whether you want to do it yourself, or you want to hire somebody to do it for you. Or, you can check for online business cards for convenient and hassle-free services.

• At the start of the designing process, you must define your goal. Is it only to introduce your business? Or do you want to give out as much information as possible? Your goals will serve as a guide onto how your card will turn out.

• Should you decide to only introduce yourself or your business, make sure you include all important information - your name, complete contact information, business name, business logo, and website URL.

• Use readable fonts and decent font sizes, as well as contrasting colors. You might lose potential clients if they can't clearly understand the information on your card. If you can read the all the details on your card without furrowing your brows and squinting your eyes, then it's good to go.

• Focus on relevance. The type of business you're in and the card design should go together. Don't confuse your future clients with unrelated picture elements and words.

• Come up with a smart tagline. It can be a one-liner message or a company statement. Make sure it stands out and doesn't get lost in the layout.

• Be unique and unforgettable. Catchy and interesting cards make long lasting impressions. Try using convincing photos, cutouts, holograms, folds, embossed letters, QR codes, see-through plastic cards, cards with unusual shapes, and many others.

• Use the right card size. Check card holders and test if your new card fits. Larger cards won't fit into standard card holders and people may just eventually lose or misplace them.

• Use only excellent paper quality and print. Everything in your card should look professional and presentable, including the print and the paper. Find good quality printing services and use any type of paper with excellent quality.

• As one of the least expensive forms marketing and advertising, you should never hesitate to produce at least a couple of stacks. Keep a stack in your wallet, in your house, in your office, and in your car - at all times. However, don't load up on too many because information (like contact numbers) may change every now and then.

• When you need to change information on your card, don't just cross it out. Doing so will make it look unprofessional. The best thing to do is to digitally make revisions and print a new batch.

Business cards are small, powerful tools to market your strengths. A lot of people in the world of commerce have taken them for granted, but it's never too late for you to take notice of its importance.

How to recognize a fake perfume

Fake perfumes flood the cosmetic industry each and every day, making it very difficult to differentiate them from genuine products. Their labels, packaging and other details look extremely real and unless you are very keen, you can be easily deceived by these fakes. However, there are a few techniques you can use to separate the fake perfume products from the real ones. This article shares some of these techniques:

The Supply Source

When purchasing perfumes, especially online, you ought to establish whether the supplier of a particular type of scent is an approved and genuine dealer. The genuine sellers will be more than willing to provide you with this information, thus verification will be a simpler process for you.

Bar codes and Labels

Check out for spelling mistakes, label qualities and the type of printing used on the bottles. These will easily help you identify whether the perfume is genuine or not. Additionally, bar codes consist of exclusive information about a certain product and they cannot be easily simulated. Give them a closer look.

iphone 5 design and style review

As often is the case apple products slowly evolve rather than change in a revolutionary style. The reason is that they don't compromise on what they see is their perfection until it has indeed dated. Across all their products.

What do you think of the new iphone 5 ?

http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/?cid=CDM-EU-36701&cp=em-P0013251-191896&sr=em

I would be happy to own it and there is only so much you can do with a phone shape though I love the pebble shape of the 3.
I just think they could have done a bit more..

Cases and Sleeves for macbooks 2012 and 2013

After having purchased my macbook air (the summer 2012 model) I'm now going down that crazy path of looking at getting a cover for it.
I have a few preferences before I begin:

It must be stylish

It must offer protection against all but drops

It must not scratch the casing (Some cases have zips that come into contact with the casing) see the konomo review below for the studs issue.

Konomo Envelope Review - Selected as looking like being the best leather envelope. The sleeve looks like one end is left exposed so I prefer the envelope.
