Jaya Bachchan And Amitabh Bachchan Celebrate Forty Years Of Togetherness On June 3, 2013.

Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary on June 3, 2013. They have been together for 4 decades and have featured in some of the most memorable films together. They were married on June 3, 1973. The very first film they starred opposite each other was Zanjeer. They got married soon after Zanjeer was released. It was through this film that Amitabh was able to get to the top league in the Bollywood industry. Both of them wanted to celebrate the success of this film in the month of May by going abroad. However, Amitabh’s parents kept insisting that before the trip they should get married. So in June 1973, they got married. Abhimaan, a classic film which featured both, was released in July. The film was about how the egos of a couple who belonged to the same profession clashed.

In an interview last year Jaya spoke very fondly about how she had seen Amitabh for the very first time in Pune at the Film and Television Institute of India. However, it was on the sets of Guddi that she got introduced to him. Actually the Amitabh was to play the role which was to be done by Samit Bhanja. But the film Anand also got released and director, Hrishikesh Mukherjee was not in favor of having a known face for playing the character of a person who did not feel impressed with cinema. So he decided not to take Amitabh in the film.

Both, Jaya and Amitabh starred opposite each other in Sholay, a 1975 iconic film. The very same year, Hrishida’s favorite film, Chupke Chupke was released. Then in a two year break from films, Jaya had Shweta and Abhishek, two beautiful kids. Shweta was taken care of as a baby more by Amitabh. By the time Abhishek was born, Amitabh was too busy with work.

In 1981, a film about an extramarital affair, called Silsila was released. There was a rumor that Amitabh had an affair with Rekha who also starred in Silsila. However both Amitabh and Jaya sailed through this. After 2 years, the couple was struck with tough times. In a shoot for Coolie, Amitabh met with an accident, and was seriously ill in hospital, but millions of fans prayed for him and he got well, as he believes even till today. All through the tough times, his wife Jaya was by his side.

His company ABCL – Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd failed, but in the year 2000 he rose like a phoenix in Kaun Banega Crorepati, a TV show. He got his place etched in a million hearts of the Indian people once again, as a guide, philosopher and friend. He has this image of a loving grandpa which is a far cry from the otherwise ‘angry young man’. Both Jaya and Amitabh also made a special appearance in 1994 in Akka, a Marathi film. It was for the producer of the film, Deepak Sawant who was also the makeup man for Amitabh that he had done this goodwill gesture. In 2000 the two thespians starred in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham a film produced by Karan Johar. In 2013 they featured in Ganga Devi, a Bhojpuri film made by Deepak Sawant. All through the 40 years of their married life, the both Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have had the same makeup artist! Recently, this Bollywood’s royal couple went to New York to attend The Great Gatsby premiere.

Levante Beach Resort Review

We stayed for a week at the 5 star rated Mark Warner exclusive resort in Rhodes Greece during the beginning of June in 2013. We have previously gone with Mark Warner for the childcare we received while skiing in Les Deux Alpes, and were eager to get some time for ourselves again – this being a big feature of their products.

I am more into watersports than the mountain biking and tennis though I did briefly use the tennis courts when on the first day the water was too rough to be open to use even as swimming which is rare. Had we the option of staying longer I would have loved to do some Mountain Biking Tours of the local area.

The welcome was typical Mark Warner friendly and informative and the welcome meeting really puts you in the right place in your mind as if you are like me you may still be in work mode at least still wanting to unwind from the days travel with children in tow. We were introduced to the various section leaders and encouraged to contact even senior management in the event of any need. I can personally say that Sue (Resort Manager) is good to her word and she really does listen and take the time out of her long day to meet and help you.

Our Room

The room was actually a suite and almost fully lived up to the 5 star rating though only a couple of times have I had the pleasure before.

Its short comings were some trim came loose around the sliding door separating the two main spaces and the lack of English speaking channels that were missed if only slightly. A children’s channel in any language would have been great in fact. The other factor was energy saving door cards that turned everything off if I went for a run – Emily and Summer left with no power ac fridge etc. The fridge really needs full time power and in high summer you would like a constant air con in action for 5 star rating. But those things didn’t detract from our enjoyment. A safe that was big enough to hold my laptop would also have been great – or a drawer that we could have locked ourselves.

Essential Craft Supplies to Buy for Your Kid

Nowadays, children are mostly glued to their television, iPod, video games, or computer. If you want your kids to engage in creative activities, then you should promote their interest in making beautiful crafts by purchasing the right craft supplies for them. There are numerous things you can buy for your kids, but a list of things that every child should have is mentioned below.

  • Safety scissors: When tiny hands work with scissors, it is important to ensure that they are protected. Safety scissors are widely available on the market and have blunt ends that make them safe for children. You can also use spring-action scissors, which easily open after a bit of squeezing. Using scissors helps improve the fine motor skills of kids, but it is essential to use scissors that are specifically designed for children.
  • Construction paper: You should definitely buy a pack of construction paper for your kids. They are available in numerous sizes and colours. When used for crafts, there may be a few leftover scraps of papers. You can collect them for future use. Construction paper is inexpensive and a colourful way of making attractive crafts.
  • Glitter glue: There are many crafts that require glitter. Children love to work with glitter since it can drastically augment the beauty of their creations. Glue glitter is available in a myriad of colours and can be directly used without much hassle. When using glue glitter, make sure to dry it properly to avoid smearing.
  • Glue and tape: Glue is an important craft supply that each child should have. You can buy glue sticks, white glue, and craft glue for all your child’s craft needs. Glue sticks are less messy than white glue, and are also easier to use. Craft glue is usually used when heavier gluing is needed. White glue is watery and works well in very small amounts when gluing paper. You may also need tape when working with crafts. Tape is a good alternative to glue in many instances. It is also used for hanging artwork.
  • Craft sticks: Craft supplies for kids including craft sticks are easily available in the market or online at very affordable prices. Now you don’t have to eat numerous popsicles just to collect sticks for your crafts anymore. They are offered in various colours, sizes, and shapes to suit the requirements of your project.
  • Ribbons: Ribbons are colourful additions to your child’s crafts. There are numerous colours, widths, textures, and patterns of ribbons available on the market.
  • Crayons, markers, paints, and paint brushes: When purchasing paints for children, make sure to get water-based acrylic paints. They work well since they do not stain the hands or clothing of children, and they are easily washable. They dry quickly and are pretty easy to manage. You should also buy paint brushes to work with the paint. You should have a pack of crayons and a set of coloured markers for colouring your crafts. You should buy water-based markers instead of permanent markers for your child.

Once your list is ready, you can visit your local store. You can also check out a few online stores for your craft supplies.

City breaks: a weekend wardrobe for a weekend away

City breaks: a weekend wardrobe for a weekend away

Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Venice or New York? Choosing where to go is hard enough, but you’ll want to have as much fun as possible in the short time you have once you’ve decided. Making the most of your time is essential for getting the best from a city break so why not start by packing light. If you can fit your clothes and toiletries into a small hand luggage sized case or bag you’ll save loads of time at the airport so you’ll have more time to spend sightseeing. With some careful planning you’ll be able still be able to dress to impress but have the freedom of being able to step off the pane and get on your way.

Consider a few things before you set off: your destination, the weather and your itinerary.

Try and cover every eventuality with as few items as possible by mixing and matching individual pieces so that you don’t need a full outfit for every day.

Wear your most comfortable jeans to travel in, but take some chunky beads and a colourful neck scarf to dress them up with a top for a casual evening out. Layering works well too and if you team a fine ribbed sweater with a vest top and jeans you can take off your jumper if you’re lucky enough to get warm weather and keep it rolled up in a bag.

Make sure you pack a more sophisticated dress if you’re planning dinner in a fancy restaurant but keep it simple and it will be more versatile. A bright tunic dress can be accessorised with jewellery for the evening or dressed down with leggings and flat pumps for sightseeing during the day.
