Are You Meeting Your Corporate Dress Code Policy?

Are You Meeting Your Corporate Dress Code Policy?

Because you are the face of the company for which you work, the leadership team will have a dress code in place that helps you to put your best foot forward when dealing with clients.  When you are hired, someone will discuss the aspects of proper attire for you so that you’ll come to work ready to do the best job possible for the business.  You can use common sense combined with the policies that your company has to make a favourable impression on existing clients and the ones that you hope to win over to your team.

Less is Sometimes More

When you apply your make-up you’ll want to be conservative and use only the amount that covers any flaws that you have.  Also keep the jewellery that you wear to a minimum so it doesn’t detract from your overall appearance.  Many companies forbid excessive make-up, fringes that prohibit your vision, and perfumes that overpower your appearance.  You’ll want to be sure to check with your supervisor to learn what is appropriate if you weren’t told at the time of your hiring.  In all things fashionable in the corporate world, remember that less is more and you should always have a conservative appearance as the face of your company.

Attempted Christmas Shopping and Cheap Hearts

Attempted Christmas Shopping and Cheap Hearts

Yeterday attempted to make a significant start to 2013's Christmas Shopping and came acoss these cool items. Firstly a very cheap wicker heart shape from dunelm. Not really sure where I would put it but for 1.99 how can you go wrong ?

So then this also led to a walk through the related stores such as Staples (UK) and B and Q (a uk DIY place)..

Office Chairs (slight digression but I need something for my derriere) The following office chairs all fitted my needs which were leather or faux leather and decent price. Spending 8 hours a day on it I needed also a firm support - I recommend sitting on the chair you end up buying. A lot (not pictured here) seemed to rock or roll on the central pivot and I wondered if this was due to the demo models or indeed if they were broken which in the latter case would also signify a weakness. The follwoing seemed very comfortable, and I also wanted more than just and up down control. Some tilt was desirable.

Hunt for the Winter Jacket

Hunt for the Winter Jacket

I’ve been on the hunt for my own personal winter holy grail – a fashionable and affordable winter jacket that is going to keep me warm no matter what.  Whether it is snowing, drizzling or blowing freezing arctic winds I want to know that I can step out of the house without feeling like I am carrying my own body weight. Also, I want to make sure what I am wearing looks good.

Thinking of Your Winter Jacket as an Investment

Sure there are plenty of jackets out there that will keep me warm, almost fool me that its not really as cold outside as it is.  But, and I will take the liberty of generalising – they rarely ever pass fashion muster. That is from years of experience of shopping for a winter jacket with my budget conscious mother.  Every time she bundled me in yet another sleeping bag with buttons masquerading as a jacket, either my facial expressions gave me away or a small groan of disgust passed my lips. It was at this point I was reminded that life was not a fashion parade.

Oh, but it is!!

Although I didn’t inherit her disdain for fashion over function I did inherit her quest for value for money. I wouldn’t say I was tight with money – I just like to know that I am getting what I’m paying for.  And over the years I’ve applied it to my wardrobe and its worked without fail.  So of course I’m taking that approach to my quest for a winter jacket.  I know I’ll be able to find a jacket that is stylish and functional, will keep me warm and will be totally affordable.  Just look at the jackets like the one in this great little article – trendy, super functional and you just know that is going to keep you warm, all at a reasonable price.

God's Own County: The Beauty of the Dales

When you are trading in “God’s Own County,” as Yorkshire folk like to call their county, there are so many opportunities because of the vast amount of people who visit Yorkshire every year. Some people come for the history of York Minster and Whitby in the North Riding, while others want to enjoy everything that cities like Leeds and Sheffield have to offer – shopping, nightlife, and sporting events. There are many who come just to enjoy the great outdoors. The term “industrial north” certainly does not apply to huge areas of Yorkshire, notably the Dales.

“Green and Pleasant Land”

The Yorkshire Dales is a vast area of green space. Small towns and villages welcome visitors throughout most of the year. Some come on day trips, but others come for an extended break to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful walks that the area provides. The Yorkshire National Park was founded back in 1954, one of 15 in the UK. Its boundaries do not encompass all of the Dales, and there are equally stunning areas outside those boundaries. There are over 20,000 people living and working within the park, which itself gets over 8 million visitors every year.

Hills and valleys

This is a region of hills and river valleys. The rivers are a source of power, which has resulted in some industry, such as textiles and paper, but it has never intruded on the enjoyment people have gotten from the environment. There are two main rivers, the Ouse and Humber, and many more smaller rivers that can be regarded as tributaries of the two.
