"to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly go where no man has gone before"

Well you have probably been before but if you didnt the guardian have compiled a guide for the trekkie Noob.

I confess that I didn't get to see the other Star Trek prequels but it posed no issue for me watching this in fact this could have been the first as thats the clever thing about them...

I also am not familiar with the actors and actresses at all, a new bunch apart from the surprise for me Simon Pegg as Scotty who does a good job on the whole for a difficult role. In fact I am amazed that they got so much of the old characters in the new. And this was a big score for me.

The humor in the film is ever present I let out a small laugh at one point something I don't do lightly the bit where they were talking about spok and his logic as it becomes entangled with ohura's love interest, and James T crosses him momentarily after and quips 'ears burning' I know you had to be there.
