Editor's Take
Amazon and retailer reviews suggest this Optimum Nutrition casein is valued for its slow-digesting, filling nighttime use, with many users saying it mixes well and tastes good for a casein powder. Common positives across review sources include creamy vanilla flavor, good texture when used in shakes or pudding-style recipes, and reliable quality from a trusted brand.
There are also recurring complaints about price increases and occasional texture issues, with some reviewers noting it can turn gloopy, gritty, or powdery if mixed too thickly or with too little liquid. A few users also mention an artificial aftertaste or that they prefer the brand’s whey protein over this casein.
On Reddit and forum-style discussions, the same themes appear: people buy it mainly for overnight recovery and satiety, but value and flavor preference vary by person. Review blogs generally rate it positively overall, especially for mixability, brand trust, and usefulness as a bedtime protein.
YouTube search results turned up multiple relevant review videos for this exact product, including vanilla-specific reviews and general Optimum Nutrition casein reviews.
- Flavor: generally liked, especially creamy vanilla
- Texture: can be thick or gritty depending on mixing
- Use case: bedtime protein / slow digestion
- Value: mixed opinions, with price being a frequent downside
