Editor's Take
Amazon reviewers say Same As It Ever Was is relatable, engaging, and emotionally real, with many praising its family-drama focus and human characters. Some reviewers, though, find the protagonist hard to like and think the writing can be exhausting or overly detailed.
On Goodreads, readers are broadly engaged, with thousands of community reviews and a generally positive reception, but opinions vary on pacing and the lead character. Review roundups from BookBrowse, Book Marks, and other book sites describe the novel as immersive, witty, psychologically rich, and especially strong on marriage, motherhood, and family dynamics.
From general book coverage, the novel is consistently described as a big, thoughtful domestic drama with emotional depth and some length/pacing concerns. No real YouTube watch URLs were available in the gathered results, so no video IDs are included.
