Victoria Beckham Denim

The fashion juggernaut that is Victoria Beckham just keeps powering on, leaving us all dying for a little bit of that distinctive style that it is her trademark. Against all the odds, with the fashion media dying for a collection flop, her first show had them all feeling just a little bit, no scrub that, a big bit sheepish. Going on as she did to win best designer brand of the year 2011 the style paparazzi had to eat their dismissive words.

The cut, the story, the sleek now familiar Victoriaesque lines. It was so not what anyone had expected. So unlikely. But it was glorious.

And it was not cheap.  Which made us want it even more.

And then, with characteristic savvy, VB, never one to miss a money spinning trick, came up with the joy that is her jean line - Victoria Beckham Denim. Meaning that whilst we might not be able to stretch to one of her ruinous dresses, we can nonetheless become the proud owner of a pretty reasonably priced pair of jeans.

Selected Femme

If you haven't heard of this label, brace yourself for a bit of a style stimulus. Denmark's best kept secret Selected Femme is a veritable walk in wardrobe of covetable chic, easy pieces. The epitome of feminine cool SF is where it is currently at for style savvy females in the know.

And it is getting bigger. Quietly growing massive in the wings, the power house company Bestseller that is the brains behind this outfit is soaring from fashion strength to strength. Watch this space for a massive flagship store on Oxford Street any time soon and yet most of us have never even heard of it! Like a cool mix of Top Shop and Zara with a bit of sophisticated Banana Republic thrown in Selected Femme is surreptitiously waiting to explode in the UK. Oh and the prices are wildly exciting too. We can all afford it!

This draped poem dress is one of my favourite pieces. Along with the chila romenesque version below .

A shot of Banana Republic

[Please note the links have been removed as these products are no longer available- they are for inspiration only.]

Banana Republic always hits the spot with its easy chic casuals and great work wear.  Accessibly luxurious, BR is where I head for a fashion hit when I’ve had a month that makes net-a-porter look like a dangerous place to be perusing. Particularly if I was not thinking of a re-mortgage.

Meanwhile breezing into BR feels only marginally like skating on thin ice, but just about justifiable. And if I fail to stick to the strictly research purposes only mantra that I adopt at the door the resulting damage will at least not be seizure inducing.

I am currently considering, sorry researching, this dress in soft chambray cotton. Perfect for weekend hanging out when you feel like wearing something other than jeans but want to look super laid back. Seriously effortless  (spray tan for the legs aside) grab this quick whilst it stays in the sale and keep your fingers crossed that the sun starts to shine.

Hang the budget Dior watch

Hang the budget Dior watch

Fuse function and fantasy with this dream on Dior watch. Guaranteed to get your second hand ticking, as it were, wear it to remind yourself that a watch is not just a watch and that time really is money. But whilst we are on watch related clichés what better way could there possibly be to experience time on your hands? And money leaving your pocket.

You could gaze at it and stroke it a bit and generally love it up all day and still not get tired of it. Like men do with watches and we would more usually, under normal circumstances, do with Victoria Beckham dresses or a mulberry handbag.  Until now.

Actually I have never spent anything over £50 on a watch. I am more of a shoes girl, but this watch ( which to anyone not otherwise watch minded is clearly not a watch at all in the sense of a watch, more a piece of to die for, investment seducing sex inspiring jewellery in disguise)  could change all that forever.

It is possibly the most beautiful thing made by man that I have ever seen in my life.  Encrusted with  diamonds and red sapphire crystal inserts you can practically justify the expense on the basis that you will mourn for ever if you don't have it.  And if you do have it you will wear it forever instead. Always a pre-requisite for an investment purchase which is the only way this eye wateringly expensive watch can be described.

Hunter boots - how to achieve that elusive glamour girl look whilst splashing through puddles

A fusion of style and sensibility these are the rubber equivalents of Jimmy Choos.  No country fashionista's wardrobe is complete without a pair and with festival season coming up fast your very own Hunters are a must-have too.

Achingly cool in an unlikely kind of a way for footwear made out of moulded rubber, who can forget Kate Moss working hers with a pair of cut offs and glamorously mud splattered legs at Glastonbury, causing an unprecedented rush on countrywear retailers across the UK? Because as with the best style setters, where Kate goes the rest of us follow, keeping our fingers and toes crossed that we too can step out looking like goddesses in the combination of practically no clothes and a pair of wellington boots.

And it is not only us non celbs who try to emulate the fashion forward Miss Moss. The list of Hunter crazy females reads like a Who's Who of Hello, with the uber fab Lily Allen and groove chick Pixie Lott amongst them. Everybody loves Hunters.

But fashion aside for a quick moment with mother, as a bit of a country puss myself I can lay testament to their enduring comfort and fit. Unsurpassed in the world of wellies, Hunters have this gloriously soft spongy interior, fitting your feet like a sensuously padded glove. And they go on for years and years. Durable as, um, tyres.

So which do we love best? I particularly adore the black argyle with its red top edging.  Imagine how gorgeous these would look rocking at V teamed with a pair of hotpants and in my case a bit of airbrushing. Or for a deeply country girl kind of a look you could go for the originals in green, edged up with some black coated skinny jeans for maximum sex appeal. Alternatively I am loving the fuschia pink version for a hit of this season's candy coloured cool.
