Sunglasses are an accessory that most people leave tucked away in a draw throughout the winter and spring and only bring them out when the sun in is shining in the summer. It is, however, a common misconception that sunglasses are only for the summer months. There are plenty of reasons why we should be rocking our sunnies all year round and here they are.

Protect your eyes

Sunglasses are a fundamental accessory when it comes to protecting your eyes. The ultra violet rays that are released by the sun can be very damaging to your eyes and what most people don't know is that this is the case even when the sun isn't shining.

If you think that your eyes are safe because we're in the winter and the days seem dull and cold then you are mistaken and you could be putting your eyes at risk of long and short-term damage.

You should ensure that your sunglasses are a good quality so you can trust the lenses are offering you the best protection. If you feel that your lens is scratched then it is advisable to purchase a new pair of sunglasses but I'd recommend that you keep them in a case when you're not using them to prevent scratches.

Stay cool all year round

We've established that you should be wearing sunglasses all year round if you want to protect your eyes in the long run and realistically this is great news as you have an excuse to be looking cool and fresh all year round.

There is an incorrect stereotype that sunglasses are for posing and this is why most people only buy them for going on holiday or for driving when it's bright. The simple fact is that sunglasses offer necessary protection and they do happen to look great too if you choose the right pair.

When you have a pair of sunglasses handy you will notice that they can complete an outfit and really make it all come together. You will be sure to be looking fresh all year round with your sunglasses on and be grateful with the knowledge that your eyes are being protected at all times.
