- Open the collar button of the shirt and turn the collar up.
- Put the tie around the neck in such a way that the narrow end lies six inches above the wider end.
- Wrap the wide end of the tie over the narrow end.
- Now wrap the wide end of the tie over the narrow end again to create a loop in front of the knot which is incomplete but make sure not to pull it too tight.
- With the wide end of the tie, make a loop between the incomplete knot and the collar of the shirt.

2. Half Windsor knot: This knot is quite similar to the four in hand knot but is a bit thicker and wider than it.
- Make a loop with the wider end of the tie by pulling it through the gap between the tie and the neck.
- Now pull the wider end of the tie to the front and hold it tightly and tie it by wrapping it around the narrow end from behind.
- Take the wide end of the tie and wrap it over the narrow end to create a loop in front of the previous knot that was left incomplete.
- Pull the wide end from between the collar and the tie and then pull it through the loop created in the precious step to get the half Windsor knot.
3. Kent Knot: This knot is a small one and is perfect for men’s ties that are made of thick fabric.
- Cross the wide end of the tie behind the narrow end.
- Loop the wide end over the narrow one.
- Wrap the wide end between the neck tie and the collar and pull it out of the loop to create Kent knot.
4. Prince Albert Knot: This is also known as double knot and is perfect for skinny ties.
- For this knot, the wide end of the tie should be longer.
- Wrap the wide end of the tie over the narrow end and repeat this step again.
- After wrapping the end for the second time, make a loop in front of the knot.
- Now pull the wide end of the tie from between the tie and the collar and through this loop to make the Prince Albert Knot.
5. Double Windsor Knot: This is a classic tie knot and is extremely popular for formal occasions. This knot can be tied only if the tie is quite lengthy.
- With the wide end of the tie dangling five inches below the narrow end, cross the two ends by placing the wide end over the narrow one.
- Now make a loop by pulling the wider end from between the collar and the tie and then take it behind the narrow end.
- Repeat this step the other way round as well.
- Take the wide end of the tie and wrap it to the front.
- Now pull the wide end between the neck and the incomplete knot to create a loop.
- Pull the wide end through this loop to complete the double Windsor knot.
