Emotions have always run high for every IPL season. For the IPL 2013 too emotions have run high in the stands and more so in the field. In this season there have been a number of expensive cricket players. For this championship, many of the players have been bought at very high prices. They include, AjanthaMendis- Sri Lanka, ThisaraPerera-Sri Lanka, SachithraSenanayake-Sri Lanka,SachithraSenanayake-Sri Lanka, Glenn Maxwell-Australia, Kane Richardson-Australia, Dirk Nannes-Australia, AbhishekNayar-India and Christopher Morris-South Africa.

Ajantha Mendis, the top bowler of the Sri Lankan team is a Second Lieutenant in the Army in Sri Lanka. He was acquired at $725,000 by Pune Warriors. In 2008 he began his career in international cricket. In his kitty he has already stowed a good number of laurels including the Emerging Player of the Year in LC ICC Awards ceremony and in 2008 as the Man of the Series Award in Asia Cup.

Thisara Perera, the all-rounder of the Sri Lankan cricket team has been roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad which has been founded newly. This IPL 2013 he is playing his maiden match. Chennai Super Kings purchased him for the IPL in 2010 for $675,000 after which Kochi Tuskers purchased him and then, Mumbai Indians.

Sachithra Senanayake, Sri Lanka

Sachithra Senanayake, the all-rounder for the Sri Lankan cricket team has been purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders, at a price of $625,000. After they won in the IPL2012 season, KKR are looking towards defending their IPL trophy this season. Trevor Bayliss, the coach made a suggestion for purchasing Sachithra Senanayake.

Glenn Maxwell, the young Australian cricket player was purchased for a whopping one million dollars by the Mumbai Indians as part of the biggest slice of the pie in the auctions. In the IPL series, as of now he is the only player to be purchased at one million dollars. He has started playing international cricket just one year ago and in a very short span of time, he has come a long way. Mumbai Indians has made a heavy investment in him to get their hand on the IPL Cup.

Kane Richardson, Australia

Kane Richardson, the young Aussie right-arm fast medium bowler has been acquired by Pune Warriors for $700,000. So far no Champions League Championship or IPL has been won by Pune Warriors. Kane has just played one, One Day International this year and has suffered from ‘hot spot’ in the back just a few weeks ago. However he gives confirmation that for the IPL he is ‘good to go’.

Dirk Nannes, the 36 year old left-arm fast bowler from Australia, a T20 specialist and the oldest of the lot has been purchased at $600,000 by Chennai Super Kings.
Earlier he has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils and is believed to bring in the confidence element for Chennai Super Kings. He is a skier by profession and has played for the cricket team of Netherlands.

Abhishek Nayar, India

Abhishek Nayar the all-rounder from the Indian cricket team has been acquired by Pune Warriors for $675,000 which is around 6 times more than his $100,000 base price. In the IPL 6 he is the most expensive cricket player from the Indian team. In his career he has played for Kings XI and Mumbai Indians. In T20, 22.47 is his batting average.

Christopher Morris, the all-rounder from the South African team has been purchased by Chennai Super Kings after a frantic bid with Mumbai Indians for $625,000. He has been purchased over 30 times than his base price. In his debut in the T20 last year, he sustained an injury while playing against New Zealand.
