G Star is a Dutch premium denim brand that originally began named Gap Star in 1989, however due to problems with the similarity to the American brand Gap they changed their name to give them a larger international appeal, so G Star Raw was born. The ‘raw’ was added to the brand name as G Star specialises in raw denim, and untreated, unwashed, original state denim, completely untouched by the more modern treatments such as rip repaired holes and abrasions and chemical washes. This denim is very popular among denim enthusiasts as it allows them to construct their own style of jeans with the wearers day to day life moulding the jeans with placement of keys, wallets, mobile phones and any major folds slowly marking the jeans and making them unique to the wearer, something that takes a lot a patience and a keen eye from the wearer to make the jeans into something they are proud of.
